A patent has been filed for a supermarket concept called ‘Drive Market’ by its Russian owner. This concept supermarket looks very useful for time strapped shoppers who dread having to traverse the whole area of a large supermarket to make a small order. It is one of the best solutions we have seen for small shopping on the go.
Often we are put off shopping when we only need to buy a few products yet have to traverse the whole supermarket just the same as those filling up their carts. Enter ‘Drive Market’, a solution where you can drive in as if you were at a gas station and drive alongside shelves that rotate to enable you to browse the inventory. Upon finding a product or product to purchase, you place them on the conveyor belt below the product’s shelf which then transports each item to a cashier who packs your order and takes payment in similar fashion to a fast-food drive in. A typical order can take less than five minutes to complete and you don’t vacate the car which means no parking hassles..
Above the shopping area is a floor where the supply warehouse is located. Products are replenished by workers who feed them into shelves that represent their counterpart shelf in the store below and report on their empty/full status. The products are taken by conveyor belt again to their corresponding shelf for restock.
