The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) announced Thursday that it has revised its standard for radio frequency identification (RFID) due in part to the growing adopting of the technology.

According to a statement issued by the organization, the new standard, “defines the generic architecture concepts” where item identification is commonly required and also provides “specific values” for the definition of air interface parameters. The update, known as ISO/IEC 18000-1:2008 also includes reference information on issued patents that were declared to the developers of ISO/IEC 18000.”

The revised standard is available through the ISO Store as http://www.iso.org/
